Hamburg / Frankfurt am Main, 28/09/2012 – Exciting keynotes, future-oriented strategies and best practices revolving around Social Business, Web 2.0 and Cloud: GBSworld 2012, which ran in Hamburg, ended on Wednesday and received great participant feedback thanks to this years’ focal areas. The user conference hosted by GROUP Business Software AG (GBS) boasted renowned experts who showed their participants opportunities to improve the collaborative elements in their companies and to use technological change for their purposes.
In his keynote on drastic changes in mid-sized corporations entitled “SMEs in transitions“, Bernd Schierholz, Director of Partnership & BPO SME Solution Center at IBM Germany, addressed future developments to be be expected by mid-sized corporations, as well as the resulting opportunities. In this context, he presented a recent IBM CEO study, which reported the important contemporary tendencies. Based on this, Steve Janata, Senior Advisor at Experton Group, provided insights into the market developments that sustainably characterize the IT and corporate world in his keynote "Big Data, Cloud, what’s next?" According to this, increasing data growth (big data), as well as new types of collaboration in social business play an important role alongside traditional topics, such as cloud computing.
Using best practice examples, Barbara Koch, Sales Lead Social Business at IBM Collaboration Solutions, demonstrated how social business functions in practice and which advantages corporations are able to draw from it. “The positive feedback and conversations showed how great the interest in novel collaboration approaches is. With its topical orientation, GBSworld 2012 hit the mark and reflected our new “Expertise Matters” strategy, which has been received with great acceptance by the participants,” explains Andreas Richter Director Marketing Europe at GBS.
The topics mobility, new types of application development and business analytics were particularly popular. How can business applications be provided via smartphones and tablets? Which perspectives are offered by the flexible development of applications, not only in the field of social business, but also by staff members via self-service? How can information be gathered from data, which can then be used as a foundation for important business decisions? These were the important questions to which participants sought and found answers.
In accordance with the motto, one highlight of this years’ GBSworld was the evening event on the sailing vessel Mare Frisium in the harbor of Hamburg. On board of the historical three-masted schooner, participants were able to set the sail themselves. The pleasant ambiance also allowed for the exchange of ideas and the in-depth discussion of the topics at hand.
