Overview

Interoperable Collaborative Process Management

InterPROM is a multi national cooperative research and development project funded by the European Commission in context of the Sixth Framework Programme.

InterPROM establishes an innovative new software technology for interoperable collaborative process management. It enables small medium enterprises (SME) to acquire long-ranging outsourcing projects advertised by large companies and to carry these projects effectively and profitable out according to the given quality standards.

InterPROMs main innovation consists in preventing, bridging and avoiding communication and media breaks between large companies and SMEs. through the elimination of incompatibilities between different systems and the bundling of the information contained herein.

InterPROM allows the development of new collaborative J2EE based applications on the basis for an own new technology platform.

InterPROM is unique because, for the first time, it integrates both project management and workflow systems. This enables SMEs to function as virtual departments of a large company. Because their respective systems become highly integrated, a contractor can monitor and supervise project activities in the SME as they are taking place.

InterPROM permits a high level of transparency, since project information is accessible by all project participants at any time. Since communications between the partners are much improved, they can rapidly determine when secondary project decisions need to be made. This becomes even more important if additional partners join in the same project.
